Transformation from Riddlesdown to Virtual
We have been made aware that the Riddlesdown parkrun course is getting very wet and somewhat risky, with mud, and some concealed hazards in deep puddles. Consequently we will NOT run the mob match this coming Saturday at that venue. The extra 50-100 runners we bring would not be a good idea. Runner safety is a high priority for us, as is accessibility of events.
Instead we will run the Virtual Mob Match we were due to run in September this Saturday (9th January), and pencil in the September date (10th) for Riddlesdown, subject to confirmation of the convenience of that date to Emmanuel, and Riddlesdown.
That means you can still parkrun this Saturday, as part of a mob match, but at a course of your choosing that you are confident on. It also means our mob matches are still evenly spaced at one every 2 months for the year.
Especially for those who do not like mud, here’s a fairly local list for those in the South London area – Dulwich, Peckham Rye, Crystal Palace and Brockwell are all courses that are tarmac.
God bless,
Tim
Nonsuch in November
Saturday 21st November 09:00 at Nonsuch parkrun, Nonsuch Park, Cheam.
The Good Shepherd Runners would like to invite you to Nonsuch parkrun on Saturday the 21st November for our ‘Nonsuch in November’ mob match.
It’s Virtually Time to Mob Match!
Following on from last year’s ‘Running in Faith a Virtual mob match’
We will be together virtually again on September 19th – clubs we know about have already had their invites and instructions, but if you want to take part give us a shout, all you need to do is just run any parkrun, anywhere in the world, and let us know within 48 hours and we will include you/your Church in the results. Please use the contact form to get in touch, or contact runners@chilternchurch.org.uk direct.
Reverse Roundshaw Returns
Chiltern Church Runners in association with African Child Trust bring you;
The Reverse Roundshaw
A 5k run on Monday 31st August at 10.30 a.m. on Roundshaw Downs near the War Memorial of Imperial Way.
Roundshaw Comes Around
Roundshaw comes around…
Two mob matches down, three to go, but the very next is Roundshaw on July 18th. As ever we coincide with the Roundshaw Anniversary (6th Year) so there should be a bring and share picnic after. Our expected presence was mentioned only this week. There is a rumour we may be running the course in reverse, as yet unconfirmed.
Last year we broke the course record, be great to do it again!
It will also be the second ‘Walkers Welcome Week’ at Roundshaw, so bring those who only want to stroll by all means, up to 1 hour 20 is fine, very doable for just over 3 miles. Register on the parkrun website and bring your barcode in the usual way for those folks though please.
We look forward to seeing lots of you, and maybe even some new club colours.
Jubilee 10k
The Jubilee Running 10K is being organised by Croydon Jubilee Church to promote the church in general (including its ministries) and to bring the community together for a fun and sociable event. Not forgetting the fitness element, of course. Proceeds from the race will be split between the work of the church and the British Heart Foundation.
It is taking place on Sunday 26 July 2015, starting at 9.30 am. Details of the run are included on the following web page:
http://www.croydon-jubilee.co.uk/running/
For those wishing to take part, entry forms are downloadable from the website. On-line entry is currently available via the event website, Runner’s World and very shortly via runbritain too. The maximum field for the event is 150 runners and walkers.
Many thanks and God bless!
May Mob Match Invite – Run to the Hills
Selsdon Baptist Church Runners warmly invite you to 2015’s second inter-church mob match at Lloyd parkrun on Saturday 16 May at 09:00. Forget Benny Hill, Jimmy Hill, Harry Hill or Jessica Ennis-Hill, the only hill that matters is the Lloyd Park hill. Put those winter training miles to good use and test yourself against our friendly bump.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to you all!
Need some motivation to keep those new year’s training resolutions going? Well, dates have been set for this year’s Church Runner events.
Also, an exciting new “Pray as you Go” initiative (courtesy of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Carshalton Beeches) will also be kicking off at the end of March. This poster has the details…
