The Reverse Roundshaw – 31/8/15 – Just a quick summary
I read last year’s report, and some of it still works this year, so I left it in!
At first it really was not too wet. It was actually dry this year until 10 minutes before the start!
But then it did really start to pour – tell tale umbrellas, from our supporters.
Our brave volunteers sheltered as best they could –It’s a really tough job on a horrible day – but you did it with enthusiasm. Thanks to Brian & Alison, Rachel, Jayne, Ellie & Justin, Michael, Annette, Paul, Ellen, Martin, David & Alison (last minute first aiders), Hyacinth, Alan and Lisa.
So we gathered at the start (finish).
And the runners pushed on regardless.
Showing great determination.
We had the following churches and running clubs represented…
- Chiltern Church Runners
- Collingwood AC
- Holy Trinity Wallington Church Runners
- New Creation Church London Runners
- Serpentine RC
- St Patrick’s Tigers
- South London Harriers
- Striders of Croydon
- Sutton Christian Centre
Quite a spread from 44 runners.
Special thanks to Calver Groom Financial Management for underwriting the event, Jayne Howick for acting as Table Boss, and Martin Lloyd for lending his timing expertise as Funnel Boss. Also a nod to Roundshaw Downs parkrun who leant us their signs, hi-vis jackets etcetera – and indeed their course (backwards)! Also Mark’s gazebo was a great help.
Early indications are that we have raised over £850 in entry fees and sponsorship – a great result for the children of Kagera who African Child Trust support.
However if we do it again it has been suggested we re-name it “The Noah’s Ark run”.
