KMPC Runners – 1000km to May

This is the full length version of the article previously published in the parkrun newsletter

In December 2015, Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church (KMPC), in East Belfast, launched a parkrun initiative as a way of raising levels of physical activity & exercise throughout the Congregation. The concept involved making use of the nearby Stormont parkrun (and indeed any others in Northern Ireland) to encourage KMPC members to meet up on a Saturday morning and participate, building our local community and encouraging what we call “Life Together”.

Nonsuch in November

Saturday 19th November 09:00 at Nonsuch parkrun, Nonsuch Park, Cheam.

Nonsuch parkrun is a two lap course, roughly half of which is on pavement and the other half on grass. The course is flat although not quite as flat as Bushy; there are a couple of slight undulations on the grass bit (not like Lloyd or Roundshaw I promise).

If you’re coming by car there are a couple of free car parks when you enter by the Cheam Village gate and a car park by London Road.  These are getting quite full nowadays though so I would recommend getting there by about 8:30.  Please also try and car share as this will certainly help parking.  It is then about 500m walk to the start by the Mansion House from either car park.  Please do not park in the car park by the Mansion House though as this is for patrons only.  Cheam train station is approximately 1km from the start.

Please arrive for a pre-mob match briefing and photograph at 08:45 (look out for the churchrunner sign) and there will be well earned food treats afterwards.

The Good Shepherd Runners look forward to welcoming you to Nonsuch!

Riddlesdown Inter-Church Mob Match (Sep 2016) – and the National (Virtual) as well!

Thank you all so much for coming, 8 ran for Chiltern, 6 for Good Shepherd, 1 for Christ Church Chelmsford, 6 for Holy Trinity Church Wallington, 15 for Emmanuel, 9 for St Patrick’s Tigers, 9 for Christ Church Purley, 3 for Croydon Vineyard, 3 for the Salvation Army and 17 for Selsdon Baptist, 1 for Springfield, 1 for Sanderstead Evangelical Church – 79 runners in total!

As to the National – I’ll come on to that in a bit, but that took in over 150 runners (including those of us at Riddlesdown) – so quite a big event. A special mention to the effort on the part of Wrangthorn Church Runners – not quite the win, but a big effort, for a small club!
